Former NZ Junior Tall Black Zane Meehl was named Queensland Australia Basketball League Player of the Week after compiling a huge ìtriple doubleî in the Maroochydore Clippersí 131-98 win over Gold Coast.
Meehl had 47 points (16/25 FG, 6/10 3pt, 9/11 FT), 11 rebounds, 11 assists, five steals and a block in a game that would have seemed like old times for the young Kiwi.
Former Avondale College team-mate Tyrone Davey had 13 points (6/7 FG, 1/2 3pt), two rebounds and two assists for the Clippers, while, for Gold Coast, former Youthtown team-mate Lance Baker had 14 points (5/10 FG, 1/5 3pt, 3/5 FT).
The Clippers, coached by Tall Black legend Warwick Meehl, are now 3-4 for the season, the same record as Mackay Meteors, coached by former BBNZ High Performance head coach Leonard King.
Former Junior Tall Fern Shannon Proffit had a ìdouble doubleî to help Maroochydore women defeat Gold Coast 66-47 in the Queensland Australia Basketball League.
Proffit had 13 points (6/11 FG, 1/2 3pt), 12 rebounds, four steals, an assist and a block in the win that takes the Clippers to 5-2 for the season.
