Basketball New Zealand is now inviting entries for the newlook 2010 Conference Basketball League .
After a one-year hiatus, the national second division contest for men will take place as a one-off tournament at Porirua’s Te Rauparaha Arena, July 26-30.
The new format will include coaches’ breakfast, an officials’ dinner, technical workshops and an opportunity to shape the CBL’s future.
The competition will be contested under previous CBL rules and Kiwi players must have played less than 15 minutes in the NBL if they are to be considered “unrestricted”.
Expressions of interest close June 16.
In their invitation to associations, BBNZ president John Gallaher and chief executive Tim Hamilton described the CBL as “a particularly important national competition”.
“BBNZ is committed to ensuring this league provides a tangible path from junior to national level while retaining talent and potentially attracting talent from other sports codes.
“It also adds to the development pathway for officials as they look for further career opportunities.”
