Season ends in heartbreak

Tall Ferns guard Micaela Cocks saw her SEABL season end when Geelong Supercats hit a buzzer-beater to eliminate her Sandringham Sabres 68-66 in the eastern conference preliminary final.
Cocks led the Sabres with 20 points (8/13 FG, 4/4 FT), seven rebounds and three assists, while playing the entire 40 minutes.
Sandringham led by two in the final minute of the game and their rivals tied up the scores with 28 seconds remaining.
The contest seemed headed for overtime, until Geelong’s Anna Teague scored to send the Cats through to the conference final against Dandenong Rangers.
But the South East Australia Basketball League southern conference final will feature Kiwi Gemma Kerr – sister of former Tall Ferns captain Aneka Kerr – who will line up at point guard for Kilsyth Cobras against Knox Raiders.
Two weeks ago, Kerr had 11 points and four assists when Kilsyth beat the Raiders 66-60 two weeks ago to progress directly to the final.
