LeBron James: 'The only thing I care about is winning'

Winning is his focus

At 40 and starting his 21st NBA season, LeBron James says individual accolades no longer matter to him — winning does. He’s made a long list of accomplishments and wants to keep adding team success. That attitude lets him slide into whatever role helps the squad most.

How he’s adapted and how he’s playing

LeBron’s adjusted his game to complement high-level playmakers, whether that means cutting off the ball, slipping behind defenders for lobs, or spacing out ready to shoot. He’s worked on his shot and kept a growth mindset through different stops in his career — from Team USA to the Cavaliers, Heat and Lakers — always asking how he can stay a threat with or without the ball.

The Lakers have gotten off to a strong start this season, and since returning from injury LeBron has been effective, putting up roughly 17.7 points, 8 assists and 5 rebounds per game. He’s meshing well alongside teammates like Austin Reaves and others who have been playing at a high level.
