Magic survive wild OT in Utah as Desmond Bane hits game-winner
How the game unfolded
On the road in Salt Lake City, the Orlando Magic pulled out a thrilling 128-127 overtime victory over the Utah Jazz. Orlando started strong, led by Desmond Bane’s hot shooting — he poured in 21 first-half points and the Magic used a 17-4 run to grab a 56-47 edge late in the second quarter. Paolo Banchero helped push the lead even further during a later 19-2 spurt that put Orlando comfortably ahead.
But the Jazz refused to fold, even without leading scorer Lauri Markkanen. Svi Mykhailiuk’s shooting kept Utah in the fight, and veteran Kevin Love chipped in an unexpected double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds. Isaiah Collier hit a tough layup with five seconds left in regulation to force overtime.
Clutch finish and key performers
The extra period brought more drama: Keyonte George sparked Utah with a four-point play that briefly gave the Jazz a 127-126 lead. Bane responded calmly, finishing a drive with a smooth finger roll with 0.6 seconds remaining for the game-winner. Utah couldn’t convert on the final inbound, and Orlando escaped with the win.
Bane finished as the game’s top scorer with 37 points — his fourth 30-plus outing in his last 10 games — showing a nice blend of outside shooting and attacking the rim. Paolo Banchero nearly recorded a triple-double, ending with 23 points, nine rebounds and nine assists. For Utah, Keyonte George scored 27 and Svi Mykhailiuk added 23.
Orlando improves to 16-12 and will have a few days off before facing the Golden State Warriors. Utah falls to 10-17 and will head into their next game against the Denver Nuggets.
