Roman Sorkin signs four-year extension with Maccabi Tel Aviv
Sorkin commits to Tel Aviv through 2030
Maccabi Tel Aviv have locked down one of their core players: Roman Sorkin has signed a four-year contract extension that keeps him in the club’s yellow jersey until 2030. The deal means Sorkin — who joined the team in the summer of 2021 — is set to spend nearly a decade with the club.
A steady force for club and country
Over five seasons in Tel Aviv, the 28-year-old big man has become a key presence on the roster. He helped the team capture multiple domestic trophies, and in European competition he was a reliable inside scorer and defender. In the 2025/26 EuroLeague campaign he averaged 13.5 points and 4.2 rebounds per game.
At home, Sorkin has collected individual honors that underline his importance: he won both League MVP and Finals MVP in 2023/24, earned two Israeli Player of the Year awards, and was named to the All-Israeli League First Team for four straight seasons.
Sorkin spoke openly about what the club means to him, calling Maccabi Tel Aviv his home and thanking the owners, management, coaches, teammates and fans for their support. He said he’s proud to stay and hopes the team can fight for many more titles together.
Head coach Oded Kattash also praised the signing, congratulating the club’s leadership for getting the deal done and saying it felt natural for Sorkin to finish his playing career in a Tel Aviv jersey.
