Alimpijevic: We started too softly in 97–95 loss to Chemnitz
Game summary
Besiktas came back late and even managed to level the score, but Chemnitz held on for a narrow 97–95 victory in Round 12 of the EuroCup. The visitors were sharp from long range and rode a lot of momentum that proved decisive in the closing minutes.
Chemnitz knocked down several three-pointers and benefitted from a few fortunate bounces and lucky finishes. Still, their preparation and energy were obvious and they earned the win.
Coach’s reaction and what’s next
Coach Dusan Alimpijevic was frank after the game, saying his team began slowly and paid for it. He pointed out defensive lapses in transition, noting Besiktas conceded too many easy points early on despite not being in foul trouble. That slow start, he said, was unacceptable and something the team must fix going forward.
With the result Besiktas sit at 8–4 in the EuroCup, while Chemnitz are at 6–6 after 12 games. Besiktas will return to EuroCup action on January 6 when they host Ulm.
