Montrezl Harrell linked with possible NBL return

Could Harrell head back to Australia?

Montrezl Harrell is reportedly drawing interest from teams in Australia’s NBL after spending time playing overseas. The veteran big man hinted recently that his agent had mentioned NBL interest while he’s been playing in Puerto Rico, jokingly asking whether “the monster” might make a return Down Under.

Where he’s been and what he offers

Harrell enjoyed a long run in the NBA, turning in productive minutes for several teams before taking his game abroad. Since leaving the league he’s had stops in Australia and China and more recently has been playing in Puerto Rico. Over his NBA career he showed he can score efficiently off the bench and provide energetic rebounding and physicality around the rim — qualities that would suit the NBL’s style of play.

Across his time in the NBA he appeared in hundreds of games and was recognized as one of the league’s top bench scorers when he earned Sixth Man of the Year honors. If he does land in the NBL, he would bring proven scoring punch, toughness, and veteran experience to whichever club signs him.

For now, nothing is finalized. Harrell’s comment opened the door to a possible move, and it’ll be interesting to see whether any Australian teams officially pursue the former NBA forward as the next step in his career.
