Bosna Officially Replaces Monaco in the EuroCup

Earlier reports have been confirmed: Bosna will take Monaco’s spot in the 2026–27 EuroCup after official confirmation from the competition organizers.

Monaco has suffered a dramatic collapse in recent weeks. The club explored several rescue options — including interest from former NBA All-Star Jamal Mashburn, investor groups linked to football star Ronaldinho, and even a company from the food industry — but none of those efforts materialized. As a result, Monaco now finds itself fighting for survival in the third tier of French basketball and has lost its EuroCup place.

A new chapter for Bosna

This is a big moment for Bosna. The Sarajevo club returned to the ABA League last season after a 15-year absence, and it will now compete in the EuroCup — a competition it previously played in only once, back in 2007–08. Domestically, Bosna enjoyed a successful campaign, winning both the Bosnia and Herzegovina Premier League and the Mirza Delibasic Cup.

The club has gone through major changes over the summer. Former president Dubravko Barbaric and the board stepped down, with Nihad Selimovic taking over the presidency. On the bench, Muhamed Pasalic was replaced by Dario Gjergja, who also coaches the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team. A number of new players have arrived in Sarajevo, and more high-profile signings are expected — the starting five could look very different by the time the EuroCup season begins.

Bosna has been drawn into Group D, where they will face PAOK, Bahcesehir, Balkan Botevgrad, Manresa, Lietkabelis, Ulm, and Roma SPQR, the newly formed club from Rome that has been linked with Luka Dončić. The team is scheduled to open the EuroCup campaign on the road against Lietkabelis, with PAOK visiting Sarajevo the following week.

For Bosna, this is a chance to build momentum on a bigger stage — and a fresh test after a season of domestic success and rapid change.
