The Warriors have made it clear they won’t pressure Steph Curry about his next deal and are letting him decide the timing and terms. Curry is eligible for an extension and, because of the NBA’s over-38 rule, the biggest extension available right now is a two-year deal worth around $136.7 million. That rule limits longer-term contracts for players who are 38 or older during the extension period.
As things stand, Curry’s current contract pays him about $62.6 million and runs through the end of the 2026–27 season. Golden State has said it’s prepared to give him the contract he wants, whether that means taking the maximum extension now or choosing a different structure.
Timing, team impact and Curry’s plans
Curry could sign an extension immediately or wait until next summer. Delaying a decision would give the Warriors more salary-cap flexibility and might make it easier for the team to pursue other additions before finalizing his deal.
