EuroCup Round 7: Blowouts from Cedevita Olimpija, Turk Telekom and London Lions
Round 7 recap
Round 7 of the EuroCup delivered several one-sided results as a few teams pulled away with convincing victories. Cedevita Olimpija, Turk Telekom and the London Lions all turned in dominant performances, while Buducnost had to work a bit harder but still came away with a win. The night offered plenty of standout individual showings and some shifting group dynamics.
Standout games and players
Cedevita Olimpija rolled to a 93-65 victory over Venezia thanks to a strong second half and balanced scoring—six players finished in double figures. Umoja Gibson led the way with 15 points and Thomas Kennedy added 14, and the winners controlled the glass emphatically, outrebounding Venezia by a wide margin.
Turk Telekom also put together a statement game, breaking the century mark while controlling the tempo from start to finish. Do11uz 86zdemiroglu and Jordan Usher each scored 19 points as the team shot very efficiently from inside and out, knocking down a bunch of threes. Lietkabelis, meanwhile, had an off night offensively with Augustine Rubit the lone bright spot with 20 points; the loss dropped them to the bottom of their group.
The London Lions defended their home court with a much-needed win over Panionios. Joel Scott paced the scoring with 20 points and Amin Adamu chipped in 13. The Greek side extended a long losing stretch, while the Lions will look to build on this momentum in upcoming fixtures.
Buducnost survived a stiffer test against Chemnitz, coming away with an 84-71 victory. Axel Boutielle led all scorers with an efficient 26 points on 10-of-14 shooting, and Juwan Morgan added 19. Chemnitz relied largely on Kevin Yebo’s 20 points but couldn’t keep up down the stretch. The win improved Buducnost to 5-2 in the competition and marked their fourth straight EuroCup victory.
With the group stage continuing, these results will shake up the standings and set the tone for the next rounds. Teams that looked dominant will try to maintain momentum, while those who struggled will be searching for answers quickly.
