Sam Dekker shares update after successful shoulder surgery

Dekker’s recovery and what the surgery means

Sam Dekker, who recently parted ways with Joventut, used his time without a team to have shoulder surgery. He’s said the procedure went well and is optimistic about returning to pain-free activity — everything from taking more shots in practice to picking up his kids and sleeping comfortably again. He also thanked Dr. Brian Cole for performing the operation.

Injuries clearly affected Dekker last season. In 2024–25 he was productive in Spain’s Endesa League, averaging about 12.6 points, four rebounds, nearly two assists and roughly 27 minutes over 27 games. This campaign, though, told a different story: he played in just 12 games, saw about 16 minutes per contest, and averaged 4.6 points and 3.6 rebounds as he battled through physical issues and time outside the regular rotation.

Joventut’s reinforcement: Jabari Parker

After Dekker’s departure, Joventut brought in Jabari Parker on loan. Parker made an immediate impact in his first outings for the club, putting up 13 points and three rebounds in his Liga Endesa debut against Granada, then following that with a strong showing in the FIBA Champions League where he posted 15 points and nine boards against Würzburg.
