Nicolas Laprovittola reveals Ricky Rubio’s role in his Joventut return

Nicolas Laprovittola is back at Joventut after seven years away and says he returned to a much different, more ambitious club than the one he left.

Back to a changed Joventut

Laprovittola explains he’s kept tabs on the team throughout his time away and has enjoyed watching the project develop. The club’s progress, combined with family reasons and the chance to work under coach Dani Miret, made the move appealing. He believes the organisation is in a healthier place now and that players are better looked after than in his first spell.

There’s also renewed excitement around the squad after some summer additions. Laprovittola thinks that’s good, but he stresses the group will need time to find its identity. The hope is to preserve last season’s core while integrating newcomers so the team can gel on court and reconnect with supporters.

His role and Ricky Rubio’s influence

One clear factor in his decision was the chance to play alongside Ricky Rubio. Laprovittola was impressed by Rubio’s recent form and wanted to share the court with him, seeing his presence as a major boost for the club.

In terms of leadership, Laprovittola doesn’t expect to take over. With figures like Ante Tomic and Rubio already at the heart of the locker room, he plans to support them, help build good chemistry and contribute where he can. Above all, he wants the team to play well and enjoy themselves.

He also says he sees Rubio differently now: the veteran transmits a lot to the group and treats the club like his home, taking great care over what happens there.
