Nikola Vucevic gives encouraging injury update ahead of playoffs

Vucevic upbeat about hand recovery

Boston’s center Nikola Vucevic says he’s on track to return before the playoffs after surgery on a finger of his right hand. He’s optimistic about the rehab process and reports that things are progressing as expected.

Vucevic mentioned he can still perform certain on-court activities, which helps him stay in shape. He hopes to play a few regular-season games before the postseason to get back into rhythm with his teammates.

He also noted that pain has been minimal, swelling is going down, and he’s focusing on regaining mobility. An X-ray is scheduled in about three weeks; if that looks good, he plans to increase the intensity of his workouts and rebuild confidence in the hand.

Celtics heading into the final stretch

Since arriving at the trade deadline, Vucevic has appeared in 12 games for Boston, averaging 10.4 points and 7.2 rebounds while shooting 44.5% from the field.

The Celtics are currently second in the Eastern Conference with a 47–23 record and are closing in on the season’s final stretch with high hopes. Having Vucevic back, even if on a limited basis at first, would add valuable frontcourt depth as they prepare for the postseason.
