Doc Rivers: We only had one star on the team
Season ends early as Bucks miss play-in and playoffs
The Milwaukee Bucks’ season has wrapped up in disappointing fashion. With nine games still on the schedule, the team can already confirm it will miss both the Play-In and the playoffs for the first time since 2016. Sitting 11th in the Eastern Conference, a 127–95 home loss to the San Antonio Spurs effectively dashed any remaining hopes of a late surge.
Rivers points to injuries, roster depth and unmet expectations
Head coach Doc Rivers put the team’s struggles down to a lack of depth and missed time from key players. He said the Bucks simply didn’t have the bodies — and the extra star power — needed to compete consistently. Injuries to Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard earlier in the season hampered the club, and Rivers noted that the roster was smaller than ideal and never got the sustained health they needed.
Offseason additions like Kyle Kuzma and Myles Turner arrived with high hopes, but they didn’t provide the lift the team expected. That shortfall makes finishing this way feel especially painful for a franchise that won a title just a few seasons ago. Now the focus shifts to evaluating the roster and planning adjustments this summer.
