Vlatko Cancar to Undergo Surgery After Left Knee Meniscus Tear

San Pablo Burgos has confirmed that forward Vlatko Cancar suffered a left knee injury during a recent practice. After an awkward movement he was sent for scans, which revealed a torn medial meniscus. The club says conservative treatment isn’t an option and Cancar will travel to Munich next Monday for surgery.

The 29-year-old will begin a recovery process that will depend on how his knee responds after the operation. The team’s official statement described the injury as a significant setback that will sideline him for an uncertain period while he rehabs.

A difficult run of injuries

This is another blow for Cancar, who has battled knee problems before. In August 2023 he tore the ACL in the same left knee during an international friendly, an injury that required lengthy rehabilitation and kept him out for the entire following NBA season. Earlier in his time with the Colorado franchise he also dealt with a fifth metatarsal fracture.

Missing more court time is tough both physically and mentally, but the focus now is on a successful surgery and a steady recovery so he can return to play when it’s safe.
