Ayo Dosunmu Agrees to Five-Year, $112M Extension with Timberwolves
Deal details
Guard Ayo Dosunmu has agreed to a five-year contract worth $112 million with the Minnesota Timberwolves. The final season of the deal is a player option, giving Dosunmu flexibility down the road. Multiple outlets reported the agreement, and the Timberwolves moved quickly to lock him in after his strong postseason showing.
Why Minnesota made the move
The Timberwolves created the space to sign Dosunmu by making roster and salary moves this offseason, including a trade that freed up cap room. Minnesota first acquired Dosunmu in a midseason trade from the Chicago Bulls, and he made an immediate impact down the stretch.
In 24 games with Minnesota he averaged 14.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.5 assists and about a steal per game. His best moment came in the playoffs against the Denver Nuggets, when he erupted for 43 points in Game 4 to help rally the team. That performance — and his steady contributions overall — convinced the front office to prioritize a long-term extension.
With the contract now agreed, the Timberwolves have secured a promising two-way guard who showed he can be a clutch scorer and a valuable rotation piece on both ends of the floor.
