Draymond Green returns to Warriors on one-year, $27.7M deal

Draymond Green will stay with the Golden State Warriors after agreeing to a one-year contract worth $27.7 million. The deal matches the value of the player option he had previously held.
He initially turned down that option earlier this offseason to give the team more financial flexibility while they explored big roster moves. Once those plans shifted, the Warriors moved quickly to bring one of their franchise cornerstones back for another season.
Green has been with Golden State since he entered the league in 2012 and has spent his entire career in the Warriors uniform.
What he brings to the team
Alongside Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, Green formed the nucleus of a dynasty that delivered four NBA championships and influenced how the game is played. His impact goes well beyond scoring.
Over his career he has racked up significant honors, including NBA Defensive Player of the Year (2017), multiple All-Star nods, and numerous All-Defensive Team selections.
Even at 36, when traditional stats have dipped, Green remains invaluable. Last season he averaged 8.4 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists per game, while providing defensive versatility, on-court leadership and the ability to direct the team’s play on both ends.
For coach Steve Kerr and the Warriors, re-signing Green preserves continuity and leadership as the team heads into the new season.
