Lokomotiv Kuban complete signing of Aleksej Pokusevski
New chapter in Russia
After leaving Partizan, 24-year-old forward Aleksej Pokusevski has agreed to join Lokomotiv Kuban. His time in Belgrade was brief and up-and-down, and although there was talk of a move to Greece, he has chosen to continue his career in Russia. The Russian club has now finalized the signing.
Season recap and what’s next
Pokusevski had an inconsistent season. In the EuroLeague he appeared in 27 games and averaged around 3.7 points and 2.1 rebounds, while his numbers were better in the ABA League at about 7.5 points and 2.7 rebounds per game. He flashed talent at times but wasn’t able to secure a regular role in Partizan’s rotation.
Prior to his return to Europe, Pokusevski spent several seasons in the United States, featuring for the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Charlotte Hornets, and playing in the G League with Oklahoma City Blue and Greensboro Swarm. Joining Lokomotiv Kuban gives him a fresh opportunity to rebuild confidence and work back toward the form that made him one of Europe’s most talked-about young forwards.
