Spurs Re-sign David Jones Garcia, Ending Olympiacos Pursuit

Spurs lock in Jones Garcia

David Jones Garcia has agreed to a new two-way contract with the San Antonio Spurs, meaning a potential move to Olympiacos will not happen for now. The 24-year-old guard appeared in 11 regular-season NBA games last year, averaging about 2.9 points, 1.2 rebounds and 1.6 assists per outing.

Jones Garcia was a standout in the G League with the Austin Spurs, where he played a much bigger role. In the developmental league he averaged roughly 25.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.7 assists, numbers that showed why teams on both sides of the Atlantic were paying attention.

European interest and national team ties

Before re-signing in San Antonio, the guard reportedly met with representatives from a top European club and was said to have received a two-year, $3 million offer that included tax-free terms. That proposal, however, is no longer on the table with his return to the Spurs organization.

There was also the intriguing possibility of pairing Jones Garcia with fellow Dominican guard Jean Montero, who has previously joined the European club scene. The two teammates from the Dominican Republic did share the floor at the FIBA AmeriCup 2025, but only in one game: a group-stage win over Argentina where Montero scored eight points and Jones Garcia poured in 20, including the go-ahead basket.

For now Jones Garcia remains in the Spurs system, splitting time between the NBA and the G League. His strong two-way G League numbers suggest he’ll continue to be a player to watch, whether he carves out a bigger NBA role or attracts future interest from overseas.
