Baskonia in advanced talks with Jesse Edwards

Baskonia in advanced talks with Jesse Edwards

Deal details and eligibility

Baskonia is reportedly in advanced talks to add 25-year-old center Jesse Edwards to their roster for the rest of the season. Because the EuroLeague registration window has already closed, Edwards would only be able to play for Baskonia in the Liga Endesa for now.

What Edwards brings and where he’s coming from

The 2.13-meter Dutch center just finished his season in Australia with Melbourne United, who were knocked out in the NBL play-in. After going undrafted in 2024, Edwards signed a two-way deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves and saw action in two NBA games. He’s also a member of the Netherlands national team.

Last season in the NBL — his second as a pro — Edwards averaged about 13.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in roughly 22 minutes per game, putting him among the league’s top rebounders. His size and rebounding make him an intriguing midseason addition for a club looking to boost its interior presence.

As for Baskonia, they sit 18th in the EuroLeague with a 9–21 record, while holding fourth place in the Liga Endesa standings. The club also claimed the Copa del Rey trophy last month, so they still have momentum in domestic competition despite struggles in Europe.
