Oklahoma City Thunder vs Phoenix Suns – Preview & Prediction (Apr. 12, 2026)

Game preview

The Oklahoma City Thunder finished the regular season as the top team in the West and one of the league’s best overall. They’ve been consistently dominant on the defensive end all year, and young pieces like Chet Holmgren and Isaiah Hartenstein have helped shore up rim protection. Perimeter defenders are aggressive, sometimes pushing the limits on fouls, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been a driving force all season and is a leading MVP candidate.

That said, the Thunder’s recent loss to Denver came with a heavily rotated lineup — most starters were rested — so it’s not a true barometer of how they’ll perform when healthy. Rebounding, which was a concern early in the season, has improved, and overall the team looks more complete heading into the postseason.

Injuries, head-to-head and prediction

The Phoenix Suns have been a surprise this year, climbing into the play-in picture and finishing with a respectable record. They rely a lot on team cohesion more than superstar depth beyond Devin Booker, and like the Thunder they treated the last regular-season game as more of a tune-up, giving minutes to bench players and resting key contributors.

Head-to-head this season, the Thunder have won two of the three meetings against the Suns.

Injury and status notes: Thomas Sorber is listed out for the Thunder, while Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Alex Caruso, Isaiah Hartenstein, Isaiah Joe, Jalen Williams, Jaylin Williams, Ajay Mitchell, Chet Holmgren, and Cason Wallace are questionable. For Phoenix, Grayson Allen, Devin Booker, Jordan Goodwin, Jalen Green, and Haywood Highsmith are listed as questionable and may sit depending on how the Suns choose to protect players ahead of the play-in.

Because this game has little bearing on seeding and both teams may rest starters, expect less physical defense and more generous minutes for bench players. That often leads to higher-scoring games. Tip-off: Sunday, 8:30 p.m. EST, April 12, 2026.

Prediction: Over 213.5 points. Odds at time of writing: 1.74. Suggested stake: 1 unit.
