Bruce Brown, a 2023 NBA champion with the Denver Nuggets, is one of the top unrestricted free agents still available this offseason. The Los Angeles Lakers were the first to be linked to the 30-year-old guard, and more recently the Cleveland Cavaliers and Miami Heat have reportedly entered the mix as teams looking to add an experienced wing/guard to their rotations.
Why he’s an appealing pickup
Brown brings championship experience and versatile defense, which makes him attractive to clubs chasing immediate improvement. Last season he appeared in all 82 regular-season games and averaged 7.9 points, 3.9 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.0 steal in 24.4 minutes per game.
During Denver’s title run in 2023 he was a key bench piece, producing about 11.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game in a valuable reserve role. That mix of playoff experience and two-way ability is why contenders are circling.
Brown was the 42nd pick in the 2018 draft. He began his career in Detroit, spent two seasons in Brooklyn, joined Denver in 2022, and then moved through a few teams in the following seasons—signing with Indiana in 2023, being part of a midseason trade to Toronto in January 2024, then included in a later deal to New Orleans before returning to Denver last summer. Across eight NBA seasons he has played in 539 regular-season games and holds career averages of roughly 8.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 2.4 assists.
