Bayern and ALBA on the verge of Bundesliga finals

Bundesliga semifinals — Bayern and ALBA up 2-0

Bayern Munich and ALBA Berlin are one win away from the German Bundesliga finals after both clubs opened their semifinal series with 2-0 leads.

ALBA held strong at home, beating Bamberg 85-71 to claim their second straight victory in the series. They controlled the game in Berlin and took advantage of solid offensive and defensive rotations.

Bayern produced a more comfortable performance than in Game 1, downing Bonn 91-69. Xavier Rathan-Mayes led the winners with 20 points and Oscar Da Silva chipped in 17. Dimitrijevic added 13 points and six assists, while Voigtmann hauled in 11 rebounds. Vladimir Lucic played about 25 minutes and contributed on the boards as well. For Bonn, Alijah Comithier scored 18 and Aminu finished with 16. Bonn is coached by 42-year-old Marko Stankovic.

Game 3 is set for June 4 in Bonn, where the home side will try to stay alive in the series.

Across Europe: Serie A and injury concerns

In Italy, Virtus bounced back with a strong win over Venezia to even their Serie A semifinal matchup and force a deciding swing of momentum in that series.

Meanwhile, Anadolu Efes had a frustrating outing against Fenerbahce, and injury worries spiked after Vincent Poirier picked up a knock. These kinds of swings and health questions could shape the next round of playoff matchups across Europe.

Coaches and scouts are also watching a number of players on the fringes of EuroLeague rosters — several names continue to surface in conversations as teams look to round out squads for the post-season push.
