Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot explains choosing Real Madrid
Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot has signed a two-year deal with Real Madrid after a strong EuroLeague campaign with Baskonia. The 31-year-old forward arrives in the Spanish capital bringing versatility and plenty of experience, and he says the move felt like the right step at this point in his career.
Why he chose Real Madrid
Luwawu-Cabarrot said the club’s relentless focus on winning was a major factor in his decision. He wanted to stay in Spain and felt Real Madrid’s history, ambition and status in European basketball made it the best fit for his goals. The opportunity to compete for trophies and join an organization with high expectations made the choice straightforward for him, especially after advice from friends who had played there.
There were other possibilities on the table, including interest from rival Spanish clubs, but ultimately he settled on Madrid as the place where he can chase titles and continue growing as a player.
New coach, new chapter
Another big draw was the chance to work under Pedro Martínez, who has earned top coaching honors in Spain and Europe. Luwawu-Cabarrot expressed real enthusiasm about Martínez’s track record and the style of play his teams have shown. He believes the coach’s approach will help him develop further and get the most out of his skills.
Now settled with Real Madrid, the forward says he’s ready to give everything for the club and its supporters. Confident that his mix of experience and ability arrives at the right moment, he’s looking forward to competing and helping the team go after trophies.
