President backs coach after tough opener

Dusan Alimpijevic steered Besiktas back into the EuroLeague this season, but the roster still feels like a work in progress. Club president Serdal Adali has publicly thrown his weight behind the head coach as the team looks to find its rhythm.

Besiktas dropped the season opener to Valencia after a few hurried plays in the final minutes cost them the win. Even so, Adali said he liked what he saw from the squad and believes the group simply needs time to gel.

He described the roster as solid but not quite finished, expressing confidence in the coach’s ability to bring the players together. According to Adali, the club is banking on stability and patience: after a few games, he expects a much stronger group on the court.

Reinforcements and a challenging early schedule

Alimpijevic is thought to be missing one or two pieces that could raise Besiktas’ ceiling this season, and Adali has indicated reinforcements are coming. He also stressed he won’t meddle in coaching decisions and told the coach to pick the players he wants.

Besiktas now heads into the season’s first double-week, with an away test against Maccabi Tel Aviv followed by a home meeting with Barcelona. Those two games will be an early chance to see how quickly the squad can come together and respond to the president’s vote of confidence.

For now, the message from the club is clear: trust the process, back the coach, and expect improvement as the team gets more minutes together.
