Braxton Key Poised to Join Fenerbahçe After Breakout Year with Valencia

Strong finish in Valencia

After arriving in Valencia late last October, Braxton Key adapted quickly to life in Europe and became a valuable two-way player for the team. He appeared in 28 EuroLeague games this season, averaging 5.4 points and 3.3 rebounds, and drew praise for his defensive intensity and versatility.

Key also showed he can contribute on offence when asked. He scored in double figures in each of the four games of the Liga Endesa final series as Valencia took the title, performances that helped fuel reports he’s set to join Fenerbahçe for the upcoming season.

Next steps and outlook

The move would follow a career that includes stints with several NBA teams and a spell in Puerto Rico. Before Valencia, Key played for the Golden State Warriors, Denver Nuggets, Detroit Pistons, Philadelphia 76ers and Vaqueros de Bayamón.

At Fenerbahçe he should bring energy, defence and timely scoring off the bench. If he carries over the late-season form he showed in Spain, he could become an important rotational piece for a club that expects to compete at the highest level in Europe.

If confirmed, it’s a signing that makes sense for both the player and his new team, and one worth keeping an eye on as next season approaches.
