Donovan Clingan Dominating Offensive Rebounds in His Sophomore Season

Clingan’s impact on the glass

In just his second NBA season Donovan Clingan has quickly become one of the league’s best rebounders. The 7th overall pick in 2024 has used his size and long wingspan to intimidate the paint, and he currently sits among the top rebounders per game in the league. What stands out is not only his raw totals but his ability to grab offensive boards — he leads the league in Offensive Rebound Percentage at roughly 17.25%, well ahead of most peers.

Clingan is averaging a near double-double with about 11.3 points and 10.9 rebounds per game, plus roughly 1.2 blocks. At around 218 cm and 127 kg with a wingspan near 234 cm, he’s a classic rim-presence who’s also begun to add some range to his game, making him more than just an interior rebounder.

Why this matters for Portland

Having a player who cleans the glass on the offensive end changes possessions and creates second-chance scoring opportunities, something the Trail Blazers can build around. With young pieces like Shaedon Sharpe, Toumani Camara and additions such as Deni Avdija, Clingan’s rebounding and rim protection give Portland a reliable interior anchor to grow with.

For now, Clingan’s sophomore surface-level numbers tell a promising story: he’s already impacting both ends of the floor and giving the Blazers a foundation to lean on while the rest of the roster develops.

Quick snapshot: 11.3 PPG • 10.9 RPG • 1.2 BPG • Leads the league in offensive rebounds (ORB%).
