Franz Wagner Injury Overshadows Knicks’ 106–100 Win Over Magic
Knicks grind out a tense home victory
What started as a breezy Sunday matinee at Madison Square Garden turned into a hard-fought affair. New York held on for a 106–100 win over Orlando, a game that saw big contributions from Jalen Brunson, Josh Hart and OG Anunoby. Brunson poured in 30 points and knocked down four three-pointers on seven attempts, Hart brought energy all night and finished with 17 points and 12 rebounds, while Anunoby added 21 points to help seal the result.
The Knicks improved to 16–7 on the season and continued to dominate at home, while Orlando dropped to 14–10 but remained inside the East’s upper tier. New York’s interior defense held up enough down the stretch, and key late baskets from Brunson and Anunoby thwarted the Magic’s comeback attempts.
Scary injury moment for Franz Wagner and other health updates
The afternoon will be remembered most for a frightening injury to Franz Wagner. Midway through the first quarter he attacked the rim, absorbed heavy contact, and then landed awkwardly. His left lower leg bent at a worrying angle and he immediately signaled he couldn’t continue. Wagner was helped off the court and did not return; the team said he suffered a lower left leg injury and will be re-evaluated back in Orlando.
Orlando battled back late behind solid efforts from their supporting players, but fatigue and fraying composure in the final minutes worked against them. The Magic’s attempts to close the gap were undone by a technical foul and some timely scoring from New York.
New York also lost Miles McBride to a left ankle issue during the game, though early reports suggest that injury isn’t serious. The focus after the final buzzer, however, was squarely on Wagner’s condition and what his absence might mean for the Magic moving forward.
