Nightmare for Nuggets: Jamal Murray Injured in Loss to Knicks
Game recap
The New York Knicks handed the Denver Nuggets a harsh home defeat, cruising to a 142–103 win. Denver fell to 39–25 while the Knicks improved to 41–23.
The Nuggets started well, holding a steady lead early on thanks to Nikola Jokic, who was active and efficient in the first quarter. But the tone shifted in the second period when Jamal Murray went down with a left ankle sprain and had to be helped off the court. That injury was a turning point — New York seized momentum, erased the deficit and took an 11-point lead into halftime.
Jokic fought back in the second half, pouring in 17 points in the third quarter, but he couldn’t do it all alone. The Knicks were scorching from deep in the middle portions of the game, stretching the margin and building a 25-point cushion that essentially decided the outcome. The final quarter saw New York maintain control and close out a convincing road victory.
Injury concerns and what’s next
New York’s top scorer was OG Anunoby with 34 points, and Josh Hart added 18. Jokic led Denver with 38 points, but Murray’s ankle issue was the big storyline. If his injury turns out to be serious, it could have a meaningful effect on Denver’s plans as the season moves forward.
Up next, the Nuggets travel to face the Western Conference leaders, the Oklahoma City Thunder, while the Knicks prepare for a matchup with the Los Angeles Lakers.
