Wembanyama, Spurs edge Timberwolves 126–123 despite Anthony Edwards’ 55
A wild comeback and an incredible scoring night
The Spurs and Timberwolves served up a thriller that ended 126–123 in San Antonio. The Spurs built a huge lead early — pouring in 48 points in the second quarter and shooting 57% as a team — but Minnesota chipped away and turned the game into a nail-biter down the stretch.
Anthony Edwards was unstoppable, finishing with 55 points on 19-of-33 shooting, including 9-of-16 from three and 8-of-10 at the line. He pushed Minnesota into the lead late, hitting a big shot to make it 113–110 with about three minutes left.
Wembanyama’s finish and the final sequence
San Antonio answered with balanced scoring. Victor Wembanyama poured in 39 points and grabbed nine rebounds, De’Aaron Fox had 25 points and 12 assists, and Keldon Johnson added 20. Jaden McDaniels led the Wolves alongside Edwards with 23 points.
The closing moments were tense: the Spurs regained a late lead after a clutch play from Keldon Johnson with 17 seconds to go. Edwards answered with a three and a free throw, but Wembanyama iced the game at the line. He intentionally missed his second free throw, the ball caromed back to him, and time expired on the scramble.
The Spurs’ dominant second quarter stood out — it was their highest-scoring quarter since 1987 and the fourth-highest quarter in franchise history — but Minnesota’s late surge and Edwards’ scoring display kept the game tight until the final second.
