Golden State Warriors vs Cleveland Cavaliers – Preview & Prediction (Apr. 02, 2026)

Team form and injuries

This matchup has some of the usual late-season drama. Golden State has been patching things together lately and hasn’t found a consistent rhythm — injuries have played a big role. Over their last 14 games they’ve managed just four wins, and they sit around the play-in zone in the Western Conference with a 36-40 record. They’ve dropped their last two outings, losing 116-93 to Denver and 113-127 at home to San Antonio, where their defense struggled early and they fell behind big at halftime. In those games, Nate Williams led the scoring for the home side with 18 points and LJ Cryer chipped in 17.

Cleveland, by contrast, has been solid down the stretch. The Cavs are 6-2 in their last eight and sit near the top of the East at 47-29. Their two recent losses came against the Miami Heat and the Los Angeles Lakers — the latter a 127-113 result in which Cleveland started well but faded, especially in the middle quarters. Jarrett Allen was one of the main contributors with 18 points, and James Harden added 17 in that game.

Availability remains a factor. Reported absences and questionable statuses have been part of both teams’ build-up to this one, so lineups could shift. Check a reliable game-day source for final injury updates before tip-off.

Prediction

Both defenses have looked vulnerable recently, and these teams tend to lean on their offenses to win. Given the recent scoring outbursts and the personnel uncertainty on defense, this looks like a game that could push the total toward the higher side.
