Historic Joint Presentation: Liga Endesa and Liga Femenina Endesa in Madrid

On Tuesday, September 15, Endesa’s headquarters in Madrid hosted the first-ever joint presentation of Liga Endesa and Liga Femenina Endesa. Bringing both competitions together for the first time highlighted how far women’s basketball has come in terms of recognition and visibility.

A big turnout and strong representation

The event included several members of Spain’s women’s national team fresh off their bronze medal at the 2026 Women’s World Cup. Iyana Martin, Helena Pueyo, Alba Torrens and Mariona Ortiz were among the players in attendance. Dozens more players showed up representing their clubs, though two Liga Endesa teams — Baskonia and Breogan — couldn’t send players because they had matches scheduled that same day.

Broadcast plans, season openers and fan events

Organizers announced the broadcasting plans for the coming season: DAZN will cover Liga Endesa games, while Movistar+ and RTVE will share the rights for the Liga Femenina. Regional broadcasters such as TV3, TVG, EITB and Aragón TV will also air matches featuring their local sides.

The 2026/27 campaign will kick off with the Liga Femenina Endesa Super Cup in Torrejón de Ardoz on September 26–27, where Zaragoza will try to defend the title they won last season. On the men’s side, Joventut, Valencia, Baskonia and Barcelona will compete in the Badalona Super Cup on September 19–20, all aiming for the trophy.

Fans were also invited to take part in what organizers billed as the largest knockout tournament in history — an event that will attempt to set a Guinness World Record and add an extra layer of excitement to the season launch.

The presentations wrapped up with remarks from the president of the Spanish Sports Council, who praised the joint event as proof of the progress made by the leagues, clubs and players, and highlighted the long-standing support from Endesa.
