Dusan Alimpijevic receives plaque for reaching 100 wins as Besiktas head coach
Alimpijevic’s 100th win and the ceremony
Dusan Alimpijevic has steered Besiktas into a much stronger place since arriving in 2023, and the club recently marked a personal milestone for their coach. After a 103-99 EuroCup victory over Bourg, Alimpijevic notched his 100th win as Besiktas head coach. The club honored him with a plaque and a trophy presented by Ozkan Arseven, the head of basketball operations, in front of an appreciative home crowd.
Alimpijevic’s rise hasn’t been accidental — he’s built on prior stops in his career, including a spell at Crvena Zvezda and taking Bursaspor to the EuroCup final in 2022. His work at Besiktas has also helped him land the role of Serbia’s national team coach.
Team form and what’s next
Besiktas carried that momentum into their next game, beating Buducnost 96-74 and improving their EuroCup record to 11-4. The squad looks balanced and confident right now, competing on two fronts as they chase success in both the EuroCup and the Turkish Super League.
Up next for Besiktas is a domestic clash with Mersin in the Turkish league, followed by another EuroCup test against Trento. The stretch of games will be a good barometer for how far this team — and Alimpijevic’s coaching — can take them this season.
All in all, the milestone ceremony was a fitting celebration of a coach who’s helped change the club’s trajectory and raised expectations around what Besiktas can achieve.
