Marcelinho Huertas Joins Tenerife’s 3,000-Point Club
Marcelinho Huertas, now 42, has become just the third player in Tenerife’s history to score more than 3,000 points for the club. He hit the mark during the Canary Islands derby against Gran Canaria, a tight 70-71 defeat for Tenerife.

Huertas put in a solid all-around showing in the game, finishing with 9 points and 9 assists for an efficiency rating of 14. Although Tenerife came up short, the veteran’s milestone stood out as one of the night’s big talking points.
Career standing and Tenerife legacy
Before Huertas, only German Gonzalez and Giorgi Shermadini had topped 3,000 points for Tenerife. Shermadini, Huertas’ teammate, sits among the club’s top scorers with 3,065 points, while Gonzalez amassed 3,191 over his time with the team.
Across his long run in Spain’s top division, Huertas has compiled 7,109 points over 19 Liga Endesa seasons. Some of his best scoring years came with Tenerife — he posted a personal single-season high of 584 points in 2020/21, and four of his five most productive Spanish seasons were also spent with the club. That consistency has helped cement his place in Tenerife’s scoring ranks and in Spanish basketball history.
