Hornets win eighth straight, longest streak since 1998–99
Dominant road performance in Houston
The Charlotte Hornets extended their hot stretch with a 109-99 victory over the Houston Rockets, marking their eighth straight win. They set the tone early, built a double-digit lead by halftime and controlled the second half to close out a convincing road win.
With this streak the Hornets have their longest run of wins since the 1998–99 season, when they put together nine in a row. Until now, every NBA franchise in the 21st century had at some point reached an eight-game streak — Charlotte is the final team to join that group.
Top contributors in the win included Kon Knueppel with 24 points and LaMelo Ball with 20. Miles Bridges added 18, Josh Green scored 14, and Brandon Miller chipped in 11. For Houston, Kevin Durant led the way with 31 points and Jabari Smith Jr. was the only other Rocket in double figures with 17.
What’s next
The franchise record for consecutive wins is 10, set during the 1997–98 season, and the Hornets will look to at least match that mark. They face a tough road test next against the Atlanta Hawks, then return home to host the Detroit Pistons.
Houston has now suffered a couple of heavy home losses recently and will head to Oklahoma City for their next game as they try to regroup.
