Serhat Gunes, the conditioning and athletic performance coach for Anadolu Efes, has died at the age of 40 following a short but serious illness. He was hospitalised in mid-May and admitted to intensive care on May 12, where he fought for his life for several weeks before passing away.

Anadolu Efes issued a statement expressing deep sadness and offering condolences to his family, friends and colleagues, noting that he will be remembered warmly by the club.
