Club confirms mutual departure

Anadolu Efes has announced that sports director Ismail Senol and the club have mutually agreed to part ways. The organization thanked Senol for his contributions and said the split followed discussions about the future direction of the team’s basketball operations. The club described the move as a mutual decision and wished him well as they enter a transition period for the rest of the season.

What Senol did and where the team stands

Senol joined Efes in November 2024, moving from a long career in sports journalism and scouting into a front-office role. During his time with the club he focused on reorganizing the basketball operations department and updating recruitment and scouting processes — drawing on experience he gained working as a consultant for teams in both the NBA and EuroLeague.

The split comes while the team is having a tough run on the court. Efes sits near the bottom of the EuroLeague standings with a 9-20 record and faces an uphill battle to reach the play-in area with only a handful of games left. In domestic play they are 12-8 and currently fifth in the Turkish Super League, several games off the pace set by the leaders. With Pablo Laso still in charge on the sideline, the club will now need to decide how to reshape its front office and recruitment strategy for the remainder of the campaign and beyond.
